In February, Technology Services Corps completed a very successful service trip to Guatemala. A team of 11 high school students and 3 adult chaperones took 30 refurbished computers and installed them at a rural school, Colegio Mixto Valle de Almolonga, a school in Ciudad Vieja Sacatepequez, Guatemala, thereby creating two new computer labs. The team also provided training to the Guatemalan students in the use of the computers.
This outcome brings previously unavailable computer and internet access to the students of Colegio Mixto Valle de Almolonga — opening up a new world for them. The cultural exchange between the groups was equally extraordinary, building friendships and bridges across the globe. We celebrate this great accomplishment as well as the hard work and dedication of the TSC students and chaperones. In addition, we extend deep gratitude to the school, the students, and our hosts in Guatemala as well as the many people whose generous donations made this trip possible!
